Cruden Bay - Old Tom Trails
Cruden Bay, located a short 30 minute drive outside of Aberdeen feels much more remote when you're there. The huge towering dunes, and view out across the North Sea make the arrival into the clubhouse certainly one to remember, and the course weaves its way through them and over those dunes. This is one stunning place to play your golf, as the local residents and members will attest to.
Old Tom was commissioned alongside Archie Simpson to lay out the initial course when the Great North of Scotland Railroad co. developed the course and wider resort as a location for the British gentry at the end of the 1890's. Central to the story is the iconic pink granite hotel which no longer exists... but that's no bad thing. The demise of the resort and the hotel is actually what makes Cruden Bay what it is today!
