Erik Anders Lang West Coast, Scotland Itinerary

In 2018 we asked Erik Anders Lang and his crew to come to Scotland to film a new series. The Official Unofficial Golf Guide to Scotland became a global hit with over 1.5 million views to date. The guys would go on to play 24 courses in 16 days! Here is part 1 - The West Coast

Have you ever thought about taking that same tour of Scotland? Or perhaps parts of it? Well, let us break it down into some mini tours and give you a sample of Erik’s itinerary in each area he visited. Lets get things started over on the west coast, specifically in the Ayrshire region where their journey began in part 1.

Day 1

Check in at The Old Loans Inn, Scotland’s best small golf hotel three years running. Tee time at Royal Troon Golf Club, host of the 2016 Open where that epic battle took place between Michelson and Stenson.

Day 2

Morning tee time at Dundonald Links, host of the European Tour’s 2017 Scottish Open, followed by lunch at The Ship Inn in Irvine (it’s where Rabbie Burns used to pick up the ladies!).

Afternoon tee time at Western Gailes which turned out to become Erik’s favourite course on the planet. A fish and chips dinner at the Wee Hurrie in Troon harbour rounded off a good day.

Day 3

Check out of the Old Loans Inn and head for a morning round at Prestwick Golf Club, Birthplace of the Open. Make sure and do the tour of the clubhouse, it’s a museum of golf artefacts. The Club Pro, David Fleming will tell you all about it. There is no better place to have lunch than the Red Lion in town. It’s served the town of Prestwick for hundreds of years and it is where lunch was had during that first Open in 1860.

Afternoon tee time at Barassie Links, Past Open Qualifying venue amongst other notable events that have been held at this links course. Followed by an evening meal at Troon’s Lido. A hip and happening place in the centre of town. Depart and head to East Lothian on the South East coast (part 2).

The west coast has a very unique 16km stretch of golfing coastline featuring 11 links courses sitting back to back including the likes of Prestwick and Royal Troon. Erik and his team played 5 courses and a good mix at that.
