ANGUS AND ABERDEENSHIRE

The coastline from Dundee to Aberdeen and beyond is home to some of the nation’s finest links courses. Cruden Bay offers an internationally famous golfing experience – old fashioned links golf at its best. A short distance from Aberdeen city centre, Banchory, Hazlehead and Peterculter are popular choices. Duff House Royal Golf Club, designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie, and Fraserburgh, the world’s 7th oldest golf club, are other outstanding courses in the north of Scotland.

Angus offers over 30 courses to play within a 40-minute drive from Carnoustie, the scene of Paul Lawrie’s famous Open triumph in 1999. The town including links and heathland venues such as Monifieth and Panmure..

STORIES FROM ANGUS AND ABERDEENSHIRE

ABERDEEN’S MAJESTIC DUNES

6 MINS

“From dunes to Dracula, what a visit to the north-east can uncover.”

PLAYING CARNOUSTIE

5 MINS

“ The Championship Links has a prestigious pedigree. Shaped by the hands of Robertson, Morris and Braid they delivered a course which was Open-worthy in 1926. Known today as 'golf's greatest test' but colloquially as Carnasty, the Carnoustie Golf Links Championship course is famous for its burns, OOB and its 112 world-famous bunkers.”

PLAYING BANCHORY

5 MINS

“The 12th & 13th holes are particularly memorable. Their own Amen Corner.”

WHERE TO NEXT - BANFF

5 MINS

“ The River Deveron splits the neighbouring seaside towns of Banff and Macduff, and provides a boundary to Duff House Royal, one of the best parkland courses in Scotland. Its challenging two-tier greens were a forerunner of Dr Alister MacKenzie’s Augusta National, and the course sits in beautiful, manicured parkland from which glimpses of the Moray Firth can be seen.”

Playing Monifieth

5 MINS

“Don’t drive by on the road to Carnoustie without paying these links.”

PLAYING PANMURE

5 MINS

“ Ben Hogan practiced here in 1953 to get used to links golf prior to the Open, and using the smaller British 1.62” golf ball. It paid off, and in return for his insight into making the 6th hole better, the Club renamed it Hogan and took on board his addition of a greenside bunker.”
